Fall 2018 Magazine

22 Magazine.BethelCollege.edu Dear Alumni, As you flip through this edition of Bethel Magazine, I hope you can sense the excitement and enthusiasm that is brewing on campus. It’s intangible, but somehow can be felt as you walk the sidewalks and hallways. The Alumni Office placed a welcome gift on the bed of each new student before classes began this semester, and as I walked the halls of Oakwood and Shupe, I could feel the anticipation of a new class of future alumni. Whether you attend an alumni event, an athletic competition, a theatre performance, or even come to campus to use the new disc golf course, you are always welcome back home at Bethel to experience the same excitement and enthusiasm you felt when you were a student! This issue of the magazine highlights our name change from college to university, and I am aware of the emotions that this change can stir up in our alumni. We are sensitive to those feelings and hope that you take time to read the article and online FAQs from Board of Trustees President Randy Lehman on p. 16, to gain understanding and join us in the anticipation of a new era for the institution. We are beginning to plan for the 2019 Alumni Dinner where we will say “goodbye” to Bethel College and “hello” to Bethel University. You won’t want to miss it! I hope to see you on campus soon.
