25 Fall 2018 a B.A. from Bethel College, Master’s and Certification in School Administration from Indiana University and a Specialist in Education degree from Ball State University. He began his teaching career at Jimtown High School in 1955. In 1966, he became the elementary principal at New Paris and Millersburg schools in the Fairfield Community School district. In 1985, he moved to Greensburg, Ind., where he was principal at South Decatur Elementary School until 1997. John moved back to Elkhart and became the supervisor for student teachers at Bethel College and Indiana University, South Bend. He was also a minister, serving Nazarene churches in Nappanee, Syracuse, LaGrange and Ligonier. John is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Carol Miller of Goshen. They have four children, Brian (Sharon) Secor of Roanoke, Ind., Blain (Cindy) Secor, of Spokane, Wash., Velinda Secor of Indianapolis, Ind., and Valerie (Mark) Natvig of Lawler, Iowa. Pastor Jack C. McGlasson ’60 age 89, of Millersburg, Ind., passed away on June 15, 2018. Jack was born Jan. 24, 1929, in Nuckolls County, Neb., to the late Luther and Katherine (Gibson) McGlasson. After graduating high school, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a radio operator with the 82nd Airborne Division, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment in WWII until his honorable discharge in 1949. He enrolled at Bethel College, received his degree and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Jack then served as a pastor at several local Missionary churches from 1959-2012. He also served as a chaplain with the Elkhart Police Department for 12 years. Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Evelyn M. McGlasson. They have three children, Karen (Brent) Martin, Kathy J. (Stephen) Fisher and Joel (Kate) McGlasson. 2 Dale E. Pettifor ’57 , age 84, of Osceola, Ind., passed away March 20, 2018. He was born April 10, 1933 in Elmyra, Mich. to Arthur and Ruth (Scholl) Pettifor. He was the eldest of five brothers, and by the age of seven, he was running the family farm by day while his father went to work at the local factory. Dale arrived at Bethel College in 1952 and studied education and theology. He went on to earn a master’s degree in education at Indiana University. For the next 32 years he would teach and administer within the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation. He helped plan the building of PHM’s two middle schools in the late 1960s, Schmucker and Grissom, and served as the first principal of each before returning to regular teaching prior to retirement. Post retirement, Dale along with other retired teachers, would paint for new home construction and remodels for nearly 20 years. Only within the last four years of his life did he slow down some, but more often than not he could be found working in the yard or continuing to paint at his longtime place of worship, River Valley Church. Dale married Phyllis Furlong on July 2, 1955. Together they had two daughters, Beverly (1958) and Bonnell (1965). He is survived by all three. 3 J. Clement Schott ’61 , age 80, of South Bend, Ind., passed away on June 28, 2018. Clement was born to the late Ora and Laura (Nettrour) Schott. He was a graduate of Riley High School in South Bend and Bethel College (1961) in Mishawaka. A man of many gifts, Clement was a pilot, salesman, Bible and Sunday School teacher, tool and die maker, and formerly owned a print shop. For 36 years, he served as a pastor in numerous Missionary churches throughout Indiana, Michigan and Ohio until he retired. In 1956 Clement married Edith “Edie” (Campbell) Schott who survives him. They have two daughters, Kristina (Rodney) Craig of South Bend and Audrey (Michael) Lawrence of Tipp City, Ohio. JohnWesley Secor ’55 , age 86, passed away on Aug. 10, 2018.
