Sherwood Named Director of Alumni Relations
Bethel is pleased to announce Emily (Rodgers) Sherwood ’99 as director of alumni relations. She’s served as Bethel’s international student coordinator since 2012 and will transition into her new role in January.
“Emily has demonstrated exceptional leadership, communication and organizational skills that make her a valuable addition to our team as we develop ways to better serve our alumni,” says Rick Munroe, vice president for institutional advancement. “Her commitment to strengthening relationships with alumni will highlight issues important to them which is vital to Bethel’s future success and growth.”
Sherwood has deep roots at Bethel – her grandfather, Marcus Krake, was Bethel’s first graduate, transferring from another institution and receiving his diploma in 1948. Sherwood’s grandparents and parents both met their spouses while attending Bethel, and she and her husband Craig ’98 followed in their footsteps.
A top priority for Sherwood is creating opportunities for alumni to renew and deepen the relationships they developed while at Bethel.
“Each graduate has unique memories of their time as a student,” she says. “Mine include watching the basketball team win a national championship, eating Kathy Gribbin’s cookies and hanging out at the Nameless Café. But one common thread for all of us is the lifelong friendships formed during our time here. I look forward to creating events that will help alumni remember the role Bethel has played in their lives.”
