did what she called a “huge spring cleaning” of the facility. “I enjoyed how enthusiastic they were,” says Losievski. “They were here because they really wanted to serve, and you could tell that.” Not only did organizations benefit from service provided by students—students benefited from it, too. “For me, the impact of [Service Day] extends beyond just one day,” says Emily Oliver, a senior who served at United Way. “It has changed my mentality from ‘How can Bethel prepare me to better serve God?’ to ‘How can I serve God right now as a student at Bethel?’ It has opened my eyes to new opportunities for service and community impact.” Skyler French, a sophomore, went to Logan Center and enjoyed the fellowship that came from working together toward a common goal. Logan supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. “The thing that stood out to me the most was how a community together could make a big difference when compared to an individual,” he says. “We were able to get a lot of work done and enjoy doing it, because of our heart and the fellowship that came as a result of us working together.” Service Day takes place every year, the first Tuesday in October.
