salutatorian from Pellston +LJK 6FKRRO DQG IURP %HWKHO &ROOHJH ZLWK D bachelor’s degree in theology DQG &KULVWLDQ HGXFDWLRQ 6KH earned a Master of Arts degree in library science at Indiana 8QLYHUVLW\ LQ ZLWK D master’s thesis on church historical collections housed LQ OLEHUDO DUWV FROOHJHV /RLVŠ long life was distinguished by a commitment and service to her church and its worldwide PLQLVWULHV $̃HU Frank was happily married to %HWW\ 0DULH .RFKHU /XVN IRU \HDUV ZLWK ZKRP KH KDG WZR GDXJKWHUV )UDQN HDUQHG D % $ LQ 0XVLF DQG %LEOLFDO /LWHUDWXUH IURP %HWKHO &ROOHJH and a bachelor’s and master’s in music from the American Conservatory of Music, &KLFDJR ,OO +H FRPSOHWHG D doctorate in voice and choral music from Indiana University, %ORRPLQJWRQ ,QG )UDQNOLQ ZDV a pastor, radio host of two GLƂHUHQW SURJUDPV LQ WKH 8 6 and Canada, director of music departments, professor of voice and choir, sang tenor lead in multiple operas while working on his doctorate at Indiana University (which also included D SHUIRUPDQFH DW WKH :RUOGŠV )DLU LQ 1HZ <RUN &LW\ 1 < +H worked as dean of students, directed oratorios with full orchestra, led worship at multiple camp meetings, sang solos, traveled with performing college choirs on spring and Christmas breaks, served as worship leader in churches, public school teacher, volunteer in a hospital, and director of church choirs and cantatas into KLV ODWH V )UDQN LV SUHFHGHG in death by his parents and VLEOLQJV +H LV VXUYLYHG E\ KLV ZLIH %HWW\ .RFKHU /XVN KLV WZR daughters, eight grandchildren DQG JUHDW JUDQGFKLOGUHQ David Matteson ’59 DJH SDVVHG DZD\ 0D\ +H ZDV ERUQ WR WKH ODWH +RPHU DQG 0DULH 0DWWHVRQ RQ 1RY LQ 3HWRVNH\ 0LFK DQG JUHZ XS LQ %URZQ &LW\ 0LFK +H JUDGXDWHG IURP %HWKHO &ROOHJH LQ ZKHUH KH PHW KLV ZLIH RI \HDUV $QLWD 3HDUO +RVNLQV DQG WKH\ ZHUH PDUULHG $XJ $̃HU FROOHJH David pastored in the Upper 3HQLQVXOD RI 0LFKLJDQ +H DQG Anita moved to Mishawaka in ZLWK WKHLU WKUHH FKLOGUHQ WR EHJLQ D \HDU FDUHHU LQ various administrative roles at %HWKHO )ROORZLQJ KLV WLPH DW %HWKHO KH MRLQHG WKH VWDƂ DW Granger Missionary Church, where he provided pastoral care to the people of the FKXUFK +H WRRN WKLV VDPH ministry with him to Iowa LQ ZKHUH KH DQG $QLWD would spend much of their UHWLUHPHQW 'DYH DQG $QLWD UHORFDWHG RQFH PRUH LQ back to Mishawaka to be near WKHLU H[WHQGHG IDPLO\ 'DYLG LV survived by his three children, WKUHH VLEOLQJV JUDQGFKLOGUHQ DQG JUHDW JUDQGFKLOGUHQ Shirley McMillan ’52 DJH RI 1HZ 3RUW 5LFKH\ )OD GLHG 0D\ %RUQ LQ 1DSSDQHH RQ -XQH WR 7KXUOR DQG Nora (Miller) Gall, she was the ƃUVW RI VHYHQ FKLOGUHQ 6KLUOH\ JUDGXDWHG IURP :DNDUXVD +LJK 6FKRRO DQG ZDV WKH ƃUVW LQ KHU IDPLO\ WR DWWHQG college, graduating from Bethel &ROOHJH LQ $̃HU FROOHJH Shirley served four years on WKH PLVVLRQ ƃHOG DV KRXVH mother for missionary children LQ 1LJHULD :HVW $IULFD 8SRQ UHWXUQLQJ WR WKH 8 6 VKH ZRUNHG LQ WKH KRPH RƅFHV RI the Missionary Church before taking a position in public UHODWLRQV ZLWK :RUOG 9LVLRQ ,QWHUQDWLRQDO LQ 0RQURYLD &DOLI and later with Baptist Children’s +RPH LQ ,QJOHZRRG &DOLI 2Q -XQH VKH PDUULHG %LOO 0F0LOODQ LQ 3DVDGHQD &DOLI DQG LQ WKH\ DGRSWHG their nephew Jimmy (Gall) McMillan, completing their IDPLO\ 6KH ZDV D ZULWHU DQG editor, becoming a published author in her eighties with KHU DXWRELRJUDSK\ $QJHOV :DWFKLQJ 0HPRULHV RI D &RXQWU\ *LUO IURP :DNDUXVD The most important mission in her life
