The Bethel College Chapel Band, led by Vice President for Student Development Shawn Holtgren, Ph.D. (’95), recently released “Love Came Down.” This is the band’s fifth album. Over the years, the students in the band have changed, but their goal has remained the same: to lead students, faculty and staff to the foot of the cross through corporate worship.

The band developed a strong “desire to capture the spirit of the Bethel chapel experience,” says Holtgren. The desire quickly led to action, paving the way to their first album release since 2009.

The album features the “passionate praise of Bethel students as they celebrate their God and exalt His awesome character and mighty works,” says Holtgren. Claimed as campus favorites, each song has impacted the lives of students, making them meaningful to the entire Bethel community in one way or another.

The selection includes multiple contemporary songs such as “Relentless” and “Send Me Out,” as well as a hymn arrangement of “The Solid Rock.” Other songs featured on the album are “Lord Almighty,” “The Greatness of Our God,” “Father Will You Come” and “Forever Reign.”

Unlike the band’s previous album “Amazed,” this release features live praise and worship with the assistance of additional microphones to better capture the voices of the Bethel community.

“I am very pleased with the quality and spirit of this project and would like to get it into as many hands and hearts as possible,” says Holtgren.

The album is available for purchase in the Bethel Bookstore and student development office, as well as online through the Bethel College Chapel Band website and iTunes. The cost is $10.
