Bethel is celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a variety of events in which students, faculty and staff can participate both on and off campus. Classes are canceled from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Organized by Bethel’s center for intercultural development (CID) and multi-ethnic resource team (MERT), the day will include the following events:

7:30-9 a.m.      Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Recognition Breakfast

Bethel-sponsored table in the Century Center.

10-10:50 a.m.  Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Chapel

The message “Reaching Our Young Anointed Leaders” will be presented by Bethel College’s Billy Kirk Scholar Leaders in the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center –Auditorium.

1-1:30 p.m.      Film Reception for Student, Staff and Faculty

Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center –Rotunda.

1:30-3:30 p.m. Viewing of “The Great Debaters”

There will be another viewing during third shift hours for staff.

3:30-4:30 p.m. Small Group Discussion of Film

There will be facilitated small-group, one-hour discussions following each showing of the film. Sign-ups will be online.

7-9 p.m.           Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Concert
