More than 500 students, faculty and staff have taken advantage of a partnership between Bethel and the Kroc Center, a state-of-the-art, multi-million-dollar community center located just minutes from campus in South Bend, Ind.

Since the initial kickoff last November, all students, faculty and staff have had unlimited access to everything the Kroc has to offer, including the aquatic center, multi-activity gymnasium, cardio fitness and weight center, and climbing wall, among other amenities.

But the Kroc doesn’t just appeal to athletes; they also have something for budding artists and musicians, including a recording studio and art studio. Students, faculty and staff can enjoy a 14-seat hot tub or float down the lazy river — all at no cost to them.

According to President Chenoweth, this partnership not only benefits students, but the Michiana community as well. “Bethel students don’t just exchange cash for courses, but immerse themselves in an ecosystem. I am thrilled the Kroc Center partnership is another enriching feature to what we call The Bethel Experience!”

Senior Brittani Whetstone was thrilled to take advantage of the Kroc opportunity. “It gives students a place to go off campus and hang out. It also offers fitness opportunities that are not present on Bethel’s campus.”

Sara DeMaster, a junior, agrees. “Membership to the Kroc Center is something I believe is an awesome benefit to promote to incoming and prospective students. It is an excellent way of providing students with a desired ‘student center’ that at this time is not possible independent of an off-site space.”
