Art Students Awarded During Ninth Annual Juried Student Art Show
Five talented students received monetary awards for their art this spring during the annual Juried Student Art Show. This year’s show contained more than 100 submissions from students in a variety of majors. Best of Show ($150) and Honorable Mention awards were given in the categories of Drawing, Painting, Design, Photography and Three Dimensional Ceramics. Kaylyn Fannon, Kenny Cordero (photo pictured), Brooke Perrin and two-time winner Melissa Matteson each received Best in Show Awards, while Cassandra Shelton, Brooke Perrin, Melissa Matteson, Rachel Coad, and Ellen Rice were awarded Honorable Mentions. Their artwork was displayed in the hallways of the Everest-Rohrer Fine Arts Center as well as the Weaver Gallery.

Theatre Students Recognized at Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival
In January 2016, the Theatre Department sent 19 students to the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, Region 3, in Milwaukee, Wis. They spent the week presenting their craft to industry professionals and receiving feedback, seeing shows, auditioning, networking and attending workshops. This year, a record 1,300 students from 75 different colleges and universities attended the festival. Amidst the large numbers, several Bethel students came home with awards.

Junior Josh Maurer participated in the KCACTF national stage manager fellowship and was a finalist; Senior Sarah Leigh Beason was one of 24 finalists (out of 60) to perform in a special cabaret at the festival; Seniors Erin Cluckie and Luke Mathys finished first in two events at Tech Olympics, (prop and costume); and Sophomore Alex Price received two honorable mentions: one for his regional design project in sound and one as a director in design storm.

Johan Godwaldt, associate theatre faculty and designer/technical director is serving his first year of a two-year term as co-chair of the Design Tech Management for Region 3 of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.

Music Department Celebrates 68th Annual Christmas Concert
The Bethel College Music Department presented its 68th annual Christmas Concert, “Gloria!,” Dec. 3- 5, 2015, in the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center – Auditorium. The concert featured the Concert Choir, Voices of Triumph, Brass Choir, Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra and Percussion Ensemble (pictured).
