Pilot Profile: Kenton Leidy ’16 – Engineer, Musician
Kenton Leidy ’16 is the first student featured in our Pilot Profile summer series, focusing on why students chose Bethel and what they’ve gained from their course of study. Leidy was a Math/Physics major and part of our 3-2 Engineering program, in partnership with University of Notre Dame. While at Bethel, he gained real-world experience through an internship at AM General, and participated in Jazz Ensemble and Chapel Band. He is heading into his second year at Notre Dame, where he will graduate with an engineering degree in 2018.

A Responsibility to Give Back
As the retired CEO of Dicor Corporation, Gary Adamson has had many opportunities to support various nonprofit organizations over the years. He and his partners built Dicor from less than 10 employees in 1983 to more than 130 employees operating four facilities — Dicor Products, United Shade, Vixen Composites and Seal Design. The success of his business has made it possible for him to give back in ways that naturally fit the areas he and his wife, Connie, value most in life.

Celebrating Bethel’s 70th Year: the 1980s
The 1980s were a trying time for Bethel College – perhaps the most difficult time in the college’s history – with consistently low enrollment numbers. But according to alumnus Courtney Richards ’87, the development of mentoring programs was key to turning the college around.
“Personal, hands-on mentoring has been the most transformative thing from 1987 to now,” he says.

Two Nurses, One Mission: Show Mercy
Bethel-educated nurses Anita Thiessen ’09 and Elizabeth LeFeber ’10 have a shared passion and calling. Both felt led to serve in Africa early in their lives. Both pursued nursing as a career at Bethel College. And earlier this year, both volunteered to work on the Africa Mercy, a 78-bed floating surgical hospital, then docked in Madagascar.
