7 Spring 2019 Grandparents Experience Bethel with Their Students Bethel’s Office for Institutional Advancement hosted Grandparents Day on March 15. Grandparents of current students enjoyed experiencing life on campus, including chapel, campus and library tours, lunch in the Dining Commons, class observation, and the option to stay for the Jazz Coffee House Concert in the evening. In total, 75 grandparents participated. Bethel Hosts Career and Internship Fair with More than 100 Local Employers 1 Bethel College hosted a career and internship fair, sponsored by 1st Source Bank and Dungarvin, on Wed., March 13, in the Wiekamp Athletic Center. Representatives from more than 100 employers in a variety of industries – including Patrick Industries, Penn-Harris- Madison School Corporation, Bashor Children’s Home, Beacon Health System, and St. Joseph Health System, among many others – were on hand to talk about available jobs and internships. Bethel Observes Collegiate Day of Prayer On Feb. 28, in honor of the annual Collegiate Day of Prayer in the United States, the Bethel community gathered to ask God for revival at Bethel and on campuses across the nation. Faculty, staff and students had the opportunity to participate individually in a time of guided prayer in The Taylor Memorial “Log” Chapel; in the evening, a student-led Prayer and Worship Gathering was held in the Shiloh Prayer Chapel. Bethel Partners with Area Churches for Fifth Annual ReFuel Conference 2 Eight local churches and Bethel College partnered to offer “ReFuel,” a one-day conference for church worship teams and leaders. The event was held Jan. 12, in the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center – Auditorium on Bethel’s campus. The conference, now in its fifth year, is a joint effort coordinated by staff from Nappanee Missionary Church, Elkhart Calvary, First Baptist Church of Elkhart, Grace Community Church, Harvest Bible Chapel, St. Mark Missionary Church, New Life and Trinity Church. David Cummings, conference director and worship ministries pastor at Nappanee Missionary Church, says the goal of the event is to energize and refresh worship leaders who spend so much time ministering to others. Bethel Opens Pilot Production Studio A dedication was held Nov. 28, for the Pilot Production Studio, a One Button Studio concept originally conceived by Penn State University and created at Bethel College through the collaboration of three departments: Adult and Graduate Studies, Center for Academic Success and Information Technology. It meets a need for campus recordings without the expensive production cost. It is open to students, faculty and staff for everything from preparing for presentations to developing material for online courses. Bethel Partners with United Federal Credit Union to Serve Community Bethel College’s 30th annual campus-wide Service Day took place on Oct. 2, 2018. Sponsored by United Federal Credit Union (UFCU), Bethel students, faculty, staff and credit union employees served together throughout Michiana. More than 700 participants volunteered at approximately 50 different locations in the community, including Food Bank of Northern Indiana, Center for Hospice Care, Rum Village, Pet Refuge, Center for the Homeless, Transformation Ministries, and more. Service at each location varied from physical labor, such as yard work, construction, and painting, to personal interaction with the elderly and children. 1 2 Around Campus
