Students Experience World-Class Theatre at Stratford Festival

1

In August, 20 Bethel students from a variety of majors (accompanied by Associate Professor of Theatre

Johan Godwaldt, Professor of Religion and Philosophy Tim Erdel and Theatre Arts Secretary Barb

Franklin, along with donors John and Therese Gardner), traveled to Stratford, Ontario, for the Stratford

Festival. Located in Ontario, Canada, the Stratford Festival is the largest repertory theatre in North

America.

This is the fifth year Bethel students have been privileged to take this trip, thanks to the Gardner family.

“It has opened our students’ eyes to aspire for professionalism in their arts and they have brought back

many ideas that they hope to implement at Bethel,” says Franklin.

Each day was packed with activities such as meeting a stage manager, lighting designer and

participating in a question and answer time, in addition to taking in 11 shows
